Mission Statement
The Bailey College of Science and Mathematics Academic and Pre-Health Advisors strive to connect with each student to recognize and support their unique advising needs. Advisors collaborate with students in a manner which empowers them to make informed, self-directed decisions in order to define and pursue their academic and professional aspirations.
Services Provided
Bailey College Student Services provides academic advising services to students within the college and pre-health advising to all students throughout the university.
Academic advising services include:
- assistance with developing long-range academic plans
- interpreting university and college policy and procedures
- articulation agreements
- study abroad planning
- scheduling classes
- financial aid SAP appeals
- helping you to understand your degree & graduation requirements
- academic coaching for students experiencing academic difficulty

Dual Advising Model
The Bailey College of Science and Mathematics offers a dual advising model for students in the college. This means that you will be assigned to a faculty mentor in your major, but you will also have regular access to the professional advising staff in the Bailey College Student Services. To find the name and contact information of your faculty mentor, please email bcsmadvising@calpoly.edu or your major department.
We encourage you to proactively build rapport with our professional academic advisors as well as your faculty mentor for academic and career guidance throughout your time at Cal Poly. We are all here to partner with you in your educational journey of earning a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly!
