Registering for Classes

Log in to your Cal Poly Portal

  1. Click on the "PASS (Plan A Student Schedule)" link found in the Student Quicklinks section of your Cal Poly Portal. It is the first item in the list by default.Screenshot of Cal Poly portal.
  2. Search for and select the courses you would like to add to your schedule. Screenshot of PASS select courses page.
    • To search for classes, start by clicking on a department or GE in either list on the left side of the page. This will generate a list of the available classes for the selection.
    • When you find the correct class, click the corresponding "Select Course" button. This will add the class to your selected courses. Continue adding all the courses you need.
  3. Press "Next: Choose Sections" in the top right to see all the available sections for the classes you selected.Screenshot of PASS choose sections page.
    • The Choose Sections page provides details about each section for the selected courses. Leave all sections checked to find all possible schedules, or uncheck classes you want to exclude from the schedule finder. 
  4. Press "Next: Select Schedule" in the top right to see the possible schedules for the sections you selected.Screenshot of PASS select schedule page.
    • The Select Schedule page shows the possible combinations of class times for a school week.
    • Filter the schedules by clicking on the links to the left under the "Sort by" section.
  5. Choose one of the schedules that best suits your needs by selecting the "Select this schedule" button to the right.
  6. Press "Next: View & Save Schedule" in the top right to view the schedule.
    • (Optional) On the View & Save Schedule page, you may save the schedule you selected to your planner. If you would like to save it for later, give the schedule a name, add notes, and press "Submit" on the left side of the page. You may return to saved schedules through PASS.
  7. Press "Next: Push to Student Center" to verify your selected schedule.Screenshot of PASS view and save page.
  8. Verify the sections are correct, and press the "Send Now!" button at the bottom of the page once you are ready.Screenshot of PASS push to student center page.
  9. Follow the link to the Student Center that appears after pressing send, or from the Cal Poly Portal, click the "Student Center" link in the Student Quicklinks section.
  10. Within the Academics section, click the "enrollment shopping cart" link.Screenshot of Student Center.
    • If prompted, select the quarter you would like to register for.
  11. Classes pushed from PASS are listed on the page. Select the boxes next to the classes you would like to enroll in and click the "Enroll" button.Screenshot of Student Center enrollment shopping cart.
    • You are not enrolled in classes until you see the confirmation page.
